Purchased 2002 Toyota 4 Runner SR5

I purchased a 2002 Toyota 4Runner SR5 last Thursday, October 14, 2010, for $10000. The vehicle Carfax shows one owner w/ 79000 miles. Carfax history just shows front brake pads and rotors resurfaced in 2005 from Poway Toyota, but no mileage. The Carfax shows two dates for Passed Emissions Inspection, in 2006 at 55000 miles and 2010 at 79000 miles. The vehicle is in good shape for 8 years old and drives "rock solid" similiar to a 1994 Toyota T100 4 wheel drive that I owned for years and had 146000 miles. Is there anyone that knows if Toyota Dealers can pull a mechanical history on this vehicle if it had been maintained at a dealership? It would be nice to see if the drivebelt has been replaced. Thanks for any help.

If the repair was done at a dealership it will have been reported on the VIN so it should be on the CarFax, but since CarFax has been known to miss things I would call the Toyota Care line and ask them if they can give you any info...it never hurts to ask

You can access service records here Toyota Owners Online | Official Toyota Owners Website With only 79K, that thing will probably last you until 400K if you treat it right. Congrats!

The next service it will need is a timing belt and water pump at 90K (recommended). I doubt it's had it done already, but you never know.

To nelsonmd....this will be a daily driver for now.... have to replace the antenna mast and it's good to go....

To teamallen....it's 2 wheel drive....and as a little more info it was purchased in Fullerton....everything I've found so far shows it's a SoCal truck originally sold by Poway Toyota.....pic soon, I hope....

To brian2sun.....thanks for the link....I've registered and found brake front and rear were taken care of and a transmission flush completed....if I drive milage like the last three yrs since retirement, it might be 2012 before the drive belt/water pump is changed out......nice to be able to drive this vehicle before having to spend money....Huntington Beach Toyota is right around the corner from where I live...
