Hello! Purchased an out of state 2012 Limited with 24,000 miles. Felt it wasn't too risky since it was Certified and the AutoNation dealership we purchased it from has excellent reviews and offers a full money back guarantee. It was shipped today, and unfortunately the flashing 4LO light and traction control light was on so we immediately brought it to a Toyota dealer. They were not able to determine what the issue was right away so we left the truck there and hopefully they are giving it a full inspection and can diagnose the issue. Very disappointing!! Does anyone have any idea what this could be? Thanks so much if you can help.

Is the shifter feeling light and smooth to operate?

I don't drive the vehicle very often (wife's daily driver). My wife recently had several instances of the 4LO flashing, but the indications cleared when she selected 4HI and 4LO a few times. This most recent time, she also got the check engine light and the traction control light, with the flashing 4LO.

So I test drove it and found the shifter was also sticky. Heavy to operate.

T4R has limit switches on park, drive, neutral positions, and the control circuit looks for those switch positions to make sense. In other words, you can't have both the park and drive switch closed.

In my case the park switch was sticking so when the trans sensor circuit saw the drive switch in at the same time it threw a code. I cleaned and lubed the shift linkage at the tranny end, and the selector position switches. All's well now.
