Well i don't know why I am saying purchasing since I already paid for the rig :) it is a 95 SR5 V6 2WD, 132k miles, engine/tranny seemed good to me after a 30-40 mile test drive, no leaks or over heating issues, already replaced the battery , but definatly needs some tires. I will also change all the fluids and throw in some sparkplugs and plug wires, although they seem pretty good. Well so far so good, the problem of the rig is it has been hit in the back. The rear lift gate is punched in pretty good, rear glass is broken and rear bumper is missing. One of the tail lights is broken. The frame seems like it does not have any damage at all, but i am no expert in checking frames. Anyhow I got it for $800, it runs pretty good and I desperatly needed 4 wheels after communiting on motorcyles for 2 years straight. Man I can now go to a grocery store and buy more than 3 items :). I wish I had some pics here, I will take an post some this afternoon. My first question is how shoudl I go by fixing the rear of the truck? I was thinking autodismantlers. Any opininons?

without pictures ?

lots of used 4runners out there. But without pictures not much to say. You can PM me and I can give a 2 cent opinion

I did not have time to take pics due to holidays, i am taking some today.
So this post is basically just wasting some space :)

I just got around taking pics. Now let the opinions roll in. This thread is mostly for cosmetic stuff, I will make another one for mechanical, because this is my first 4R/Toyota and i have some questions.
My short term goal is to make it presentable and operational. I am not looking for perfection or making it look like a show car or new. I just want an operational rear window and decklid, front and rear bumper, front turn signals, front parking lights, one rear brake/turn light and maybe some body work on the sides but it is not mandatory. If I do the sides, I may throw in a cheap $200-$300 sloppy paint job. I am looking to use junkyard and Taiwanese parts.
I am a starving college student who was riding a motorcycle every day for the the last 2 years so this is like royalty to me :)

Tailgate

I think your biggest challenge will be to get a tailgate for cheap.

Mine was rusted out so I checked some prices and was blown away by the prices. I ended up rebuilding the one that I had.

Got a tail gate and installed it today. The color does not match ( its black), and it has a small dent in it, but it came with rear window, defroster, sensors, motor, carpet inserts, hinges, basically complete. Cosndiering my old one had a broken motor, blown window and a totally destroyed body it is a big upgrade for me. Window does not come down since my switch is broken but its not the tail gates fault. Got the whole package off a junkyard here in Los Angeles for $100 :)

Yeah this guy wanted an arm and a leg too but I negotiated a little bit. First of all rust free complete units are common in California. Plus I think he fell for my " How many other people do u think are there that are looking to give you cash for a 1995 toyota 4runner v6sr5 door, that they don't even get to test out to see if it works or not? " line :D
And yes although it is a run-on sentence that is grammatically wrong, it still worked..
