Purchasing Advice - 2002 T4R

Looking at potentially picking up this one. Carfax is clean and ran service history at toyotaonline and has been dealer maintained last couple years. Waiting on undercarriage pictures and negotiating price. Seem like a good buy?

Looks pretty clean. A couple of things. One, it's not a Limited and two, it has a center locking diff (which all 4wd's had in '02) not a rear locking diff. It does however look like it has the Sport Edition seats.

It allows you to essentially run in AWD, so you can drive on mixed surfaces. When you first engage the 4WD, the front and the rear are not locked, to put it into a traditional 4WD, you press that button and lock the center diff.

Here's the only thing that I have to compare to Volley. Mine's an 01' and has been to Germany and back in its early life, so i'm not really sure how it compares?

Those pics look really clean, except I don't know what the dark coloring around the dif is. I wish mine was that clean underneath...

Haha I hear ya Realtor. It's pretty clean otherwise. I'm considering going ahead and getting it. I've been able to talk the guy down to the low 7K. Pretty good deal I think.

That sounds like a great deal! Its so clean. Already has the timing belt/water pump. And you gotta love the center locking diff. Here is a thread with more info on it:

It actually looks pretty good under there. Sort of hard to tell with the dirt, but it doesn't look like there's much rust under the dirt.

That sucks Volley! Oh well, don't let it affect your judgement, ie don't make an irrational decision on the next one you see just because you're afraid you might "lose" it to someone else. Everything in the universe has a way of aligning itself, and your perfect runner will soon be finding its way to you soon enough :thumb3:
