Push Button 4WD vs. Manual hubs

I owned a Tacoma w/ manual hubs for 10 years. The 96' truck never had any problems w/ the 4x4 system after 13 years of use. What can I expect from my 05' Sport 4x4 V8 w/ the push button locking center diff? I like the full time 4x4 so I'll never be stranded, but wonder about problems w/ relays and buttons on the center locking diff and the 4 LO switch. Any ideas? Problems you've had?

I've rarely seen any problems if any with the auto hubs on 3rd or 4th gens.

no problems with mine. I have 62,000 miles and they have yet to give me an issue

It seems like most times when people have an issue they also don't exercise the system. With an occasional fluid change and regular switching to 4lo and a quick lock/unlock of the center-diff the t-case seem to do well for the long haul. There doesn't seem to be a big problem w/the electronic controls. There's some internal actuator problems but again excersise seems to be the key. Cycle all the modes once a month at least...

Yep, when I got mine I was warned to check the system. If it hasn't been used much, it is possible there could be some heavy repairs. As CJ3Flyr said, as long as it's exercised regularly there shouldn't be any issues and it'll last.
