Push Lock & Unlock on Smart Key. Beeps twice, then thrice.

Sorry if this was asked before, but I searched and I could not find it. When I press & hold both the Lock and Unlock buttons on my Smart Key for about 5 seconds, it will do two "beep-beeps". When I do the same thing again, it will do three "beep-beeps". It will cycle through 2 "beep-beeps", then 3 "beep-beeps", then 2 "beep-beeps" again, etc.

Anyone knows what I just did? Anyone knows what settings I might have changed? I am worried that I might have turned off some nice feature. Thank you all.

you changed the settings between all doors unlock (2 beeps) and driver door only unlock (3 beeps) for when you touch the sensors on the door. This is only for the Limited door touch sensors and not for the key unlock control. Per http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-g...n-program-2010-toyota-4runner.html#post563010 or the FSM in SIG

Funny you should ask when you did, as I was just reviewing these settings.

I think the 3 beeps is when unlock all the doors or when it's running and you leave the keys in the truck.................so doing it over and over again might have activated Devcon 1 and the missile launch codes.

JK , seriously ,The only feature that can be changed with the buttons on the Smart key fob is the unlocking/locking of all the doors with one touch.Best feature of the Smart key is just touching the door handle and it unlocks all the doors with the key in your pocket.

On another note, what's interesting about that video is how it shows using the key to put the rear window down. From what we've determined, that is not possible!

Thank you all. Yes, it changed between unlocking all doors when I grab the driver door handle and unlocking the driver side only. Wireless key remains the same though... still has to press unlock twice to unlock all doors. And yes, tried openning back window via wireless key and it didn't work. Also went to Tustin Toyota and they're charging me $112 to program to open all windows with wireless key, and I bought my T4R there...

Harper7, I remember you were going to attempt a door handle replacement from limited to trail. Did you attempt this yet? I'm curious if you're able to retain the touch feature.

That is INSANE! On my Acura that is how the windows come from the factory. My wife and I just bought a 2011 Limited and I was hoping there was a way that I can program this without going to the dealer, has anyone had success doing this without going to the dealers?

It is not self-programmable. The delaer has to use the toyota techstream software to change it. All customizations should be free within 500 miles, at least, thats how must dealers do it. Mine did everything I asked for (including turning off the stupid seatbelt chime) at no cost. Just ask your dealer.

In the video, it says that to hold the lock or unlock buttons for 1 second, respectively, to close or open the rear window. Is this correct? On another thread here just yesterday, someone told me that there is no way using the key fob to roll the rear window down, let alone up.

That same poster said that those arrows on the rear gate were up and down buttons to raise and lower the rear window when in proximity with the smart fob, but I see in the video that it shows those buttons are lock and unlock buttons.

So my question is, re the rear window operation, is this video correct, and I was misinformed on the other thread?

If you notice, the videos are on the 2010 4Runner Limited, was letting the rear window up/down with the FOB possible than, but not with the 2011 Limited?

I haven't tried mine yet, but will give it a try later.

The video is "magic" as most of us on the forum agree, nobody has been able to get this programmed to work. (myself included, after trips to 3 different Toyota dealers). Thanks. That is really odd, because (I could be wrong, but) it appears to me that it is a Toyota video.

I won't be able to attempt to get it programmed myself, because I don't own a 5th Gen, I own a 2009 4th Gen. I just read and follow the 5th Gen section because it is likely that I will move to a 5th Gen one day, so I try to keep myself well informed about all the details of the vehicles.
