Push the clutch to the floor ?

2000 SR5 4x4 manual tranny. Man when they say the clutch has to be pushed all the way in to start, they mean it. My pedal has to be completely on the floor for the truck to start. Is there any adjustment in the pedal or is there a switch that the pedal contacts that can be adjusted? Thanks for your help

There are two switches on the clutch pedal mechanism.

The one at the bottom of the stroke is for the start safety and the one at the upper end is for cruise control.

There is an adjustment jam nut and if I remember correctly, the switches are white and it is a 14mm nut.

all the way on the floor is normal though.
you want to make sure it is fully releasing the clutch. no better way to do that, then to have it all the way on the bottom.

You can also use the clutch cancel start switch...s/b in close proximity to the RR diff lock switch.

Lay with your back on the floor mat and check out your connection for the clutch master cylinder. You can adjust the screw on the push rod to get more of a stroke and get a better response on the clutch pedal which may help.

There are two sensors that are connected to the pedal for sensors. Check the connections and maybe clean them up if need be. My manual requires the clutch depressed all the way but it is not that hard to do.

I really dont even think about it anymore until my brother drives it and complains it is not like his 6 speed frontier.

On our 2000 SR5 4x4 5 sp it makes no diff if it's in gear or not, I have to use the clutch override switch on the dashboard to start.

After adjusting or checking the adjustment with the switches and push rod, if its still not to your liking a very simply spacer can be placed to make it a little easier on you.

You can resolve this in two minutes with a stick-on furniture bumper from the hardware store. Stick it on the pedal where the switch post contacts it. Another guy used a replacement amplifier foot. Mine has been on there for maybe ten years when I got tired of not getting my truck back from valet parking.

Haha my truck was the same way. Wired up my remote start with the nss bypassed. Problem solved.
