Putting on shocks myself

I was just wondering how hard it is to put on shocks myself? I'm so so with putting on my own parts...I put a bumper, sway bar and ends myself. I just don't have a garage witch is a bit--. Do I need 2 jacks? Thanks for the help.

one jack take the tires off unbolt the bottom use a really small rachet and stick you hand up there and pray to god you can still get your hand back after you unscrew the top bolt.:whipping2

The fronts is more involved but the rears should be a 1 jack, in the driveway job.

The rear shocks suck, if you've got big hands pay someone else to do it. My $.02.

CharlotteFire, let me know if you go with the coil springs so I can let the spacers go to someone else. I'll keep them for a while for you either way. thanks.

struts are 4 easy bolts...

why is that more involved??

as long as you buy your struts preassembled! :bigok:

I think he wantsto replace just the shocks and he's planning on keeping the front coils for now IIRC, so he'll have to disassemble and reassemble himself or have it done. This is not the funnest thing I've ever done, not to mention it can be a bit dangerous. If you do it yourself, get or rent some good spring compressors (at least 2), not the Harbor Freight bullshit.

I found the hardest part was trying to get that top nut started on the rears. Fronts were cake. Just make sure to douse the bolts with PB Blaster a few days beforehand and they'll come out easy (3 up top, one on the bottom for the front).

Thanks fella's! Guess I'll give it a shot, if it warms up a little. I think I'm gonna take your advise and try the LC coils instead of the spacers.... If I gotta get them off anyway, might as well spend a little more and change them out. I wish some of you lived around here to help me out! lol

fwiw, I just have 4 new shocks/struts put on, had a shop here in Tulsa do it, I think it was $160 for all 4, $10 each for the rear and $65 each for the front, they had it done in like 2 hours total....
