Question about 2 yrs free maintenance program

So I just got around to my 5000 mile service and wouldn't you know it but I can't find my coupon booklet anywhere. Must have lost it in the move. Sucks I know.

So as a shot in the dark I sent the dealership an email asking if I could get a replacement booklet. Their response...

Toyota is no longer providing coupon books. You may take your 4Runner to any Toyota dealership nationwide for service. They will simply pull up your vehicle service record through their service database, which is linked to all Toyota dealerships.

I sent them an email back trying to confirm if I read that right. I don't need the coupons, I just need to show up and my SR5 will pop up as free maintenance?

could be correct. Although, i did receive a piece of paper from my dealership last week, that mentioned a couple of free services. I know it said "coupon" somewhere on there, not sure if it is related to the 2 year free maintenance program. I'll go home and check in a few hours.

I bought my 4R in Jan and received key fobs for toyota care, just like those Ralphs/Albertsons ones. All it has though is your VIN and a toyota phone #. They input your VIN in their database and they basically have a checklist to see what you've used and have left so far. Good for them for saving some trees.

beamer - I can also verify that you do not need the coupons. Same as you, I received my coupons in the mail. However, when I took my 4runner in for an oil change (at 3500 miles) "they" automatically performed the 5000 mile service and never asked for a coupon (nor asked me if I wanted the 5000 mile service, but that is another thread).

Although I bought in Alexandria, VA, I am now out in MO. The local dealership pulled my info from the VIN as described and all is well. Hopefully the 5K service in a few weeks is as painless as it should be - I get a good impression from Jay Wolfe Toyota here in KC, MO....hopefully they don't prove me wrong.

I never received a coupon book. Each dealer sends out coupons if you purchase your vehicle from this. If you have the maintenance program they gave you a customer maintenance #. They will verify it upon arrival if you dont have the paperwork. I've done this for my 10,000 oil change.

haha. thats awesome. Yeah, i am happy with alexandria toyota. They were very nice, not too much hassling, they beat the price of Koons Toyota by several thousand. So far so good.

yeah, i got the toyota care brochure with the key fobs too.

if you read carefully though, it looks like you DON'T get a free oil change at 5,000 miles. the brochure states that you get certain services every 5,000 miles, but "replace engine oil and oil filter" is only at 10,000 mile intervals. is that the case?

For those of you who purchased your t4r after Jan 1, 2011, you will recieve the "key fob" style id. If you purchased the vehicle prior to that, you should have recieved the coupon booklet between 4 to 8 weeks after initial purchase. The printing company that toyota was using was not prepared to handle the complimentary ToyotaCare and therefore backlogged. However if you lost the coupon booklet or never recieved one from Toyota, you are able to get get a re-print by calling 800-228-8559. You will need your VIN #. It is true that the service writer can pull up your info by vin for the complimentary services that have been used. So the coupons are not absolutely necessary. I know this because I am a finance mgr at a Toyota store, so I deal with this daily. Hope this helps.

Why don't you try what they said and bring it into Toyota?

You should recieve your ToyotaCare welcome packet, just like the one Johnny Utah posted pics of, aprox 4 to 8 weeks from the purchase date of your TE.

As for the Toyoguard: That is a product that the Southeast Region of Toyota distributes. I don't have any knowledge on that

Does anyone know if you can use the 2 free oil changes at different intervals other than 10k and 20k? Since I changed it at 5k without using the free maintenence, I still have my 2 free oil changes for 10k and 20k, but would like to wait until 15k and 25k now getting back on track with changing every 10,000 miles. Just not sure if there would be a problem bringing it in at 25k for a 20k free oil change.

I changed my own oil after letting the dealers do it for the first 20k (5 changes total) and was not happy to find out that they stripped all four bolts holding the skid plate that covers the oil filter.

Oh no! That's why I like doing it myself. They just need to be snug, not super tight. I put some oil on them as well.
