question about a wrecked 4runner

hey there I found a 98 4runner that has front end damage. the headlights and front bumper are removed in the picture i saw and the airbags have been deployed. the hood has a little crease in it also.
im looking for somewhere that i can get basically the whole front end of the truck so i can have it looking new again. any advice?

also, what other models/years can i get the headlights,bumper,grille, and hood from if there is any that fit it?

I can't tell you were you can get some locally, but sometimes it's worth while to search E-bay. As for the years, you can get a hood and fenders from 96 - 2002, and bumper will be direct bolt on from 96 - 98. You could use 99 - 2002 bumpers as well, you may need to buy extra mounting hard ware though.

Also, not sure if you're into it or not, but while you're shopping for a new hood, try to upgrade to a scooped hood. I believe they were found on 2000 - 2002 Sport models.....

I think you should do the Taco front end swap. It looks like you need to replace all those parts anyway, and tacoma's are a little more common.

Plus it just looks friggin' BA. It's what I would do if I were you.

The Tacoma that was used in the thread above was parts from a 2001-2004 Tacoma. I'm definitely doing this mod some day down the road myself either on my current 4Runner or if I find a good candidate like you have there.

You could hit up salvage yards for one with rear end damage, otherwise, in the thread I posted they mention a source for new body parts.

Not sure about the core support,, I am guessing you need the taco one.

you will need the tacoma core support, and the tacoma parts are cheaper than the 4runner parts, so it will be cheaper in the long run to do the swap, and it will look 10x cooler

You don't need the core support, but without it you'll have to do some fabrication to get everything to mount up right. IE, it's recommended to use the Tacomo core support if you want to do this mod.

true, sorry i was just thinking about the easiest route of doing things. but if the 4runner core support is damaged, and you have to replace it anyways... why not use the tacoma one, just my thoughts on the matter

Easiest is always the best way! We can definitely agree there. I'm no fabricator and I'd be definitely swapping out the core support in a heart beat than trying to make Tacoma parts fit on a 4Runner support.
