Question about Borla and Warranty!

This is probably a stupid question, but here goes anyway. I am planning on picking up the Borla Dual Exhaust (#140036) for my '04 V6, and I am wondering if I need to have Toyota install it to prevent the classic "warranty" business they try to pull on you from time to time. I'd much rather have the local shop do it for me, but I don't want to have something go wrong with the headers or catalytic converter and then have Toyota try to tell me that since they didn't install the exhaust the rest of the system is no longer warranteed...any thoughts? Anyone ever have any issues like that? Thanks!

Dealerships cannot deny warranty coverage unless they can prove a cause and effect relationship between a warranty-covered part failure and the presence of your aftermarket parts. If they can't prove that your aftermarket part directly caused the stock part to fail, they must honor the warranty.

You should be fine with the Borla cat back system. Their designs are solid and haven't been known to cause problems. If you have any problems with the 4Runner in the future, for whatever reason, here's all the info you'll ever need to back up a warranty claim:

The warranty on the emissions might be brought into question but your bumper to bumper will be fine.
