Question about electrical jumpers

I went to Radio Shack to get the goods to do the constant 12V power supply mod. The thread I read said to use 16 guage wire. Radio Shack only had 12 guage and 18 guage. I ended up getting the 12 just to be on the safe side. My question is can one use too thick of a wire for this mod? I'm not very good with electrical stuff so I didn't know if there might be too much resistance in a thicker wire resulting in a loss of power. Thanks in advance!

the thicker wire is better, it will allow you to draw more current (amps)

Thicker = less resistance = better.
