Question about HID's

So, got my new 4Runner and it needs some better light output. I can't go back to stock after the Silver Stars in my old Runner I just sold. So I'm looking at doing some HID's in the next couple weeks.

I don't have the funds or time for retrofit, so I'm looking at doing a kit. Problem is,I know just about NOTHING about HID's and I'm coming to y'all to be educated!

I've shopped around at DDM and other places, but don't know which kits would be best. All I know is that the lower the temp., the higher light output but yellowed the color. I see most have 5000-6000k sets which would be what I'd get I assume. What's the difference of 35w and 55w? What all does it take to put HID's in?

ok so from wat ive seen DDM is the best according to the best "bang for the buck" in my opinion... All u need is the standard kit they offer and i would suggest sticking with the 35w kit bc they are very bright so the 55w would def get u a ticket. They are direct plug and play, they take very minimum effort to install but just be sure to re-aim the headlights once ur done.

oh ya and i agree with elton on the color... i debating on getting the 6000k color but ended up getting the 5000k bc my friends were a little too blue and well im really happy with mine bc they are very bright white with a slight hint of blue.

So do these actually work or do they throw the light all over the place? I've been wanting to do this but have heard of others scraping their after market hid's foe the 99+ lenses and headlight assy

well i have an 02 with the newer lenses but i have an HID kit in mine and love it... i have re-aimed mine several time so that i do not blind anyone but the light output is still great and i NEVER get flashed or pulled over by cops when directly behind them.

Ok I'm going to install my HIDs today from DDM. I bought this about a month ago and finally getting around to it. I got the 35watt hi/low kit with ballast and relay. But now I'm thinking that I bought too much! I didn't need the ballast or relay did I?

well do u have a pic of wat parts u received? U need both ballasts and there should be a flat rectangular relay.

ok, I was hoping that I didn't have to hook all that up but no such luck I guess. I'm getting confused between what I need to do on the 4runner and what I was reading about the 100 series landcruiser. I'll just follow the instructions on the DDM website since I need all that I have in the box. Thanks.
