Question about my torque wrench

I have a Huskey torque wrench that I bought at Home Depot. Its packaging and instructions say that it is adjustable from 50-200 ft.lbs. But on the tool itself it has markings and lines that indicate 40, 30, and all the way down to 20 ft.lbs. Does this mean that I can use this to tighten something to 30 lbs and trust it? or 20?

Could go either way. I don't like using torque wrenches at either extreme even though they should work... I wouldn't expect it to be very accurate below 40lbs.


If you can feel spring tension on the adjustment at say 25 or 30 I'd trust it to be even but not especially accurate. By that I mean if doing multiple bolts and you need them to be 'even' I'd trust it. I wouldn't trust it for an exact ft-lb value.

I'd try and Google the wrench and see if there's an online .pdf for the wrench. Look for a direct manufacturer site rather than the Home Depot site.
