Question about "Range"

Hello all,

I am using a friend's Toyota 4 Runner. I have never driven one before and am trying to get familiar to all the bells and whistles. One, in particular, is the word Range on the radio display. What is it refer to and what does it mean? I am trying to keep an eye on the mileage as well, as the closest gas station between my home and work is almost 30 miles and as the needle is going down, I am trying to estimate how much gas I have. Does the "Range" feature have anything to do with this?

Of course I am getting lots of different input (like it is radio frequency range) and the manual does not mention it. Any real informed knowledgeable help will be greatly appreciated.

Be more specific, what year are we talking about here?

And when in doubt about gallons left in the tank...

If it is the same radio display as my '03, it is refering to the estimated amount of miles before the tank is empty. This number is only an estimate, and will vary depending on how you drive. There should be a 'Mode' button on the left side of the radio, just under the display. Using this button, you should be able to cycle through three different display modes. One is the range, the 2nd is the average overal mpg since the last time the reset was hit, and at this moment I can't remember what the 3rd mode is. If you let the tank get close to the empty mark on the gauge, a yellow warning led will light near the gas gauge. With my '03, I usually have about 30 or so miles left before I have to push..............

I never had a "Range" on my radio display. :jaw drop:
It's either what station it is on OR who is singing the song playing on the radio unless i have the cd on then it's what cd number is playing.

You must mean on the display below the radio...

... and as TechWrench indicated, you can use the "mode" button to toggle between different displays... mine shows

Outside temperature
Range (approx miles ramaining before tank is empty)
MPG
Average Speed (MPH)

I think that is all.
