Question about Revos and the Yellow Dot

I just read that the yellow dot on these tires is supposed to line up with the valve stem. The Midas guys didn't do this. Am I going to have a problems down the road? Or is it OK since they rebalanced the wheels anyway?

I noticed the other night when I was checking my tire pressure that the red dots on my stock duelers where no where near the valve stems. I wouldn't worry either since the counterweights attached for balance are there for that purpose.

On another note I tried removing the red dots for the hell of it and had no luck. They're stuck on there pretty good. That's some strong ass ink. Meh, no worries though.

The red dots aren't supposed to line up with the valve stems...only the yellow dots. But of course not every tire manufacturer follows the same color codes with their dots.:bash:

Really?!? I guess I just assumed they would have the same funcition after reading about the yellow dots. Does anyone know what in the world the red dots are for then? I'm not too keen on tire manufacturing processes. :confused:
 
the yellow dot means the tire is lightest at that area and you should match it to the heaviest part of the rim, the valve.

the red dot means the tire is highest at that area and you should match it to the lowest part of the rim, also marked on the rim.

now it's just a question of how to line up both dots with the valve AND the low spot mark on the rim!? :arrow:

If I'm not mistaken, the red dot takes precedence over the yellow dot, which may be the reason that the yellow dot isn't always lined up with the valve stem.

Besides, I think a lot of tire shop guys just ignore the dots and balance the tires anyway.

I just removed 8 dots from 8 new tires. Super easy.... A little Non-Chlorinated brake cleaner on a corner of a rag. Removes it pretty much instantly. My dots were yellow. But the point is that the ink is easy to take off.

BTW, my dots were also NOT lined up in any particular way witht the stem or opposite of the stem. they just mounted the tires and balanced.

I was impressed though that they mounted all the tires correctly, because they were all directional (Blizzaks and Fortera's)...
