question about spidertrax

Quick question.........would getting these 18x9 TRD (-10 offset) wheels kinda be the equivalent of keeping my 17x7.5 Sequoia wheels and adding spidertrax spacers? Or am I totally confusing everything? ..... I'm torn between the issues of using spacers, and just putting a wider wheel on instead. Thanks!!!

The Spidertrax only come in a 1.25" version. I'm not sure how to calculate the rim offset with the spidertrax spacers, but I think the tire shop guys can tell you.

Keep in mind too, that the spidertrax spacers are hub centric and do a great job of keeping the "weight" of the vehicle off of the wheel lugs. But some believe that it's best to use a wheel over the spacers as it keeps the moment of inertia closer to the hub.

You're info above sounds like it's very important to know and understand for those of us who are considering a future lift and larger tires. Unfortunately I feel like I'm not following 100%. Sorry to ask, but could you expand your comments a little bit. That would be very, very helpful to make sure something wasn't missed.

I'm new to the T4R world and I'm also looking into the spidertrax spacers but it seems to me that everywhere I look I'm getting mixed reviews. I'm going more for looks right now before I do a lot of suspension mods and I like the idea of a wider stance and the idea of being able to fit a little wider tire. So my question is what are the drawbacks or negative issues with the wheel spacers??

I think they copied a large majority of this information from the spidertrax website.

If you have stock rims, I think the wheelspacers are a great idea and won't reduce the longevity of the linkages and components. However, if you have aftermarket tires with a different offset, then maybe the spacers aren't even necessary?...Just my opinion.

I can't speak to the specifics of wheel offset and how to calculate and compare that to the wheel spacers. However, the guys at Slee Offraod (where I had my Spidertrax installed) explained it to me in layman's terms that running the wheel spacers does no more or no less harm to wheel bearings and other componants than running an offset wheel. So, if you are running a wheel that provides the same offset as the Spidertrax would to the stock wheels, it would be no different. I know that is probably not much help but I hope that helps put it in perspective.

From what I understand, the TRD wheels provide enough offset that they should look flush with your fenders on the 4R. You probably don't need the wheel spacers in addition to the TRD wheels.
