Question about sport/scooped hoods

I am in the process of buying a scooped/sport hood but I only want the OEM toyota hood. I found a hood for a good price but the guy selling it says he doesn't know if the thing is OEM or aftermarket because it was on the truck when he bought it, so my question is is there a way to find out wheter its OEM or not any significant differences?

i believe there are remanufactured replicas and i believe they fit just as good as oem. Don't quote me on it though, i've got an oem one so i'm probably not the biggest help. But from what i read, as long as it comes with the hardware and mesh and everything for the scoop, it should fit fine.

I'm not worried about an aftermarket one fitting right I just want a way to make sure that the one I'm buying is OEM

if its OEM it will be stamped as a Toyota OEM product. But why waste your money when you can buy a capa certified one from someplace like rock auto. For less than a 1/3 of the cost.

I purchased mine from Rock Auto....looks and fits perfect!

I got mine from Certifit, I guarantee you can't tell a difference without lifting the hood and checking for the Toyota logo.

As far as I know and from what Ive seen all the body parts on the car have stickers and labels like vin #. Idk if this applies to the hood though...

Just a personal preference, but the one I'm looking at has a red and white sticker underneath that says "Toyota R DOT" for the ones who have the factory option sport hood what does yours say underneath?

Go look under your current hood. It's literally identical aside from the middle portion.

If it doesn't have Toyota stamped into it and a VIN, then it's most likely aftermarket.

And for what it's worth, my aftermarket one came with a white Toyota DOT sticker.

Thanks for the quick replies, but before I make a drive out to get the hood I wanted to make sure its what I was looking for
