Question about Sub-Frame Lift What is a Sub-Frame Lift

So I was hoping someone could clue me in on exactly, what a Sub-Frame Lift is?
Sub-Frame below the frame, I am guessing?
It would seem to my uneducated ears that such a lift being below the frame, I am guessing, would be obtained by what I think of as a suspension lift or by adding larger tires?
I have never heard this terminology so I am curious can someone help me out with a definition?

I believe this is same as a cross member lift.

Something like this.

I had to google it, but subframe doesn’t mean under the frame. Rather, a subframe is simply a part of the total frame construction. For example, a car can have a front subframe and a rear subframe, as parts of the chassis. A front subframe can support the engine and front suspension, and a rear subframe will usually support the rear suspension in a vehicle with body on frame or unibody construction.

I don’t think 4runners have subframes, at least mine doesn’t (4th gen).

If a truck has a subframe or two, then a subframe lift just describes lifting that section of the frame.

I don’t think the terminology “subframe lift” applies to 4runners.

I’m not an expert, so I could be wrong.

sounds like a drop bracket lift, which is a bracket to drop the front differential down and keep the CV angles at a stock level while adding like 6" or so of lift. doesn't really serve much of a purpose besides looks, but they are out there and i've seen a couple first gen tacomas with them.
