question about the tps sensor

when i have the key on, i have this buzzing noise coming from the throttle body. The noise goes away if i unplug the tps sensor. is this normal? 2001 runner. this is the 4 wire tps sensor

I never heard my 2001 TPS buzz. I was hoping some other members would have committed on this thread.

How does it run with TPS unplugged?

Mine makes zero sounds (that I can hear above the engine sounds)...

I not sure a 2001 2002 will run with a TPS unplugged? Wouldnt the ECM have to know where the throttle position is as 01 and 02 are drive by wire hybrids?

Stepper motors do not need feedback (aKa a tps) persay.......each step equals X degrees of open. It’s fixed and I’m sure it has a homing program to ensure it’s at its software home position by driving it to its mechanical stops. Or that’s how I would do it......at key off I would cycle the throttle plate to get it ready for the next run cycle.

Ah makes sense. I figured the ecm would love to know it's actual position. So goes back to a predetermined pattern and knows via the stepping sequence where it's at. 0 degrees 1 step degrees 2 step degrees. Etc. They probably should have pulled the cable to eliminate it as it wouldnt be needed if an accelerator sensor was present. My 02 camry, 09 Tocuma and 07 sienna are all throttle by wire.
