Question about Tire Pressure Sensors!

Anybody know how much a set of sensors would cost and where to get them? I'm thinking of picking up some Tundra/Sequoia wheels that don't have the sensors and I would like to add the pressure sensors so I've got them on both sets of wheels. Thanks!

Sensors are between $100-$180 depending on where you get them but there's one problem with your plan.

Each sensor has a serial # that is programmed into your DME (car's brain). The DME can only hold 5 serial #'s, 4 wheels + spare. The only way to change those sn's are to reprogram and only the dealer can do it.

What's the spare set of wheels for? Offroading? Winter Tires?

I was thinking of getting some 17" Tundra wheels and having them powder coated black - and throw some Revo's on them. Alternatively, I wanted to keep my original rims and put some snow tires on and use those for winter. Sounds like what I need to do is pick up the new rims, have the sensors moved over to the new rims, and then just deal with the flashing light during the winter months. Does that sound about right? Thanks for the info!!!

I don't see a reason to need winter tires if you're getting Revos. I just went out on some isolated roads that weren't plowed. This is my first time in the snow with my Revos and I have to say they were very impressive. I had a hard time getting the tires to break loose when I wanted to in a parking lot. There was about 2" of snow and it was 26 deg F out. On the roads, some parts were packed powder and at around 10mph, I hit my brakes hard and the abs kicked in. With the Dunlops, all the wheels would just lock up and I would slide. Not with the Revos.

Can't wait until tomorrow night when we're supposed to get 3-6" of snow .

Good point - I guess I was figuring I would get some hardcore snow tires for the winter and save the tread on the Revos for some warm weather fun I live in northern Illinois but if the Revos will do fine, then I guess I don't have anything to worry about! Anyone else had a lot of experience in slippery snow on the Revos? Hows the tread life on the Revos? My 'Runner came with the standard Duelers, and for the first few winters they held like glue but after about 27k I'm now noticing a lot of slippage on snow...

Let me start by saying I'm a HUGE proponent of snow tires. I believe in the right equipment for the job.

That said, I think Revos is good enough for anyone that lives in the northern parts of the US. They're M+S rated (mountain and snow) and should last at least 50k miles. I have about 8k miles on my Revos and they still look new. I replaced my Dunlops at 7k miles because I heard they really suck after 10-15k miles. I just didn't want to chance it so I jumped on the Revos when they came out with the rebates. Unfortunately, you only get the rebate when you have them installed by an authorized dealer and none of them would install the bigger size so I just bought them and mounted and balanced them myself (my bro-in-law has a shop). I still think they're worth it.

All summer, they did great on mostly pavement and I did take them to Paragon Adventure park which is an off-road park.
