Question for Homelink Owners

Does the Homelink unit work without the ignition on (or in ACC position)? I would expect that it works all the time since it's probably powered off the circuit for the map lights...

I would like to add the Homelink to be able to open my garage doors as a convenience, but my 4R stays outside the garages. I worry about someone breaking a 4R window and opening the garage door using the Homelink. Thanks for any info.

I have the stock Toyota Homelink in my 4r and it's live all the time. If you add an aftermarket kit I'd recommend hooking up it up anyway you want it.

toyota's aftermarket kit works regardless of engine being on or off.

I know, I know... That's the problem with having too many rolling toys... And my wife wonders why the first question I have about a new house is how many garages it has. Ever heard the theory about a measure of a man being the number of cylinders he owns?
