Question for lifting the 4runner

I don't do much off road, mostly driving to work. On im free time i do light off road driving if that makes sense.

I stuck between a 2.5 inch lift or 3 any opinions?
on a low budget, so thinking about daystar spacers..if anything might save up for 2.5" Lift Kit w/spacers & rear OME coils - Toytec Lifts: Toyota Lift Kits: FJ Cruiser Lift Kits, Tacoma Lift Kits, Tundra Lift Kits, 4 Runner Lift Kits, Sequoia Lift Kits, Toyota Truck Lift Kits this set, either 2.5 or 3 also..


3 inch might be a little to high, if possible can someone post up a 2.5 inch and 3 inch lifts on your 3rd gen?

By the way i have a 2000 sr5 4x4 with 17inch tundra wheels.

well i did all that but sure it would help bc of my bigger tires, i put a 2.5 front, 3.5 rear skyjacker kit on. it did a lot for mine but just put 2 floor jacks on the frame and lift it to what you want and see what it looks like

Not sure what you have but Skyjacker doesnt make a 3.5" rear lift for a 3rd gen 4runner:confused:

i have the 2.5 daystar.. I wish I went bigger when I was doing all that work.. You wont regret it, I am like you I barely offroad and just wanted a meaner 4runner and occasional offroad

Contrary to what most people believe, what is good for off road is also good for on road driving. Basically what i mean is the kits that include shock and springs vs just springs or spacers are also better for the on road ride and not just off road. That spacer kit is definitely not a bad option and will work well if your coils and shock are still in good condition. However if you have a lot of miles on your stock stuff, you would be better off doing a kit with shocks and springs so you don't have to do the labor twice

I would get the 3 inch. if you do the 2-2.5, i bet in a few months you will want more

well the thing is, i ordered a 2.5" for front and back. the front is a 2 piece 2.5" and the rear is a 1 piece 3.5" thick block for the top of the coil. not sure if it was supposed to but it did. if they did make a 3-3.5" i would have gotten it.
 
Could one combine the Toytec spacer kit with a non OME (or OEM) shock?

Like a Monroe Sensatrac or Billstien 5100? Mine aren't original, I replaced them a while back and don't remember what brand is there.

I have 163000 miles on my t4r, Should i just save up for the whole package? or just do the springs?..Yea I read the sticky, and stuck between the two spacer or springs..now depending on if i need to replace my springs and struts soon..dont know if 163000 is high mileage on the components

Steverstrike the 2.5 daystar looks good on your 4runner, do you have any pictures of your 4runner from the side? like a straight on shot. thanks for posting the picture. did you install it yourself?

Do you know if the shocks are original or if they were replaced recently? If they are original, i would recommend something like the OME suspension, Tundra/LC lift, or our Ultimate kit as those are all new springs and shocks. That might be more than you want to spend right now But i think it will probably end up being cheaper since everything will be done at once

id go with Tundra coilovers with new struts anyday over spacers. Spacers will give room for bigger tires but no added performance at all. If you search around you can find used coilovers for $150 or so but you need the yellow/yellow and yellow/blue coils.
