Are any of you running with the stock size tire? If so do you have any pics of how it looks, I've been thinking of putting a lift on, and really don't want to change my tire size, but on the flip side I don't want to be lifted and have it look silly becase I stayed with my 265/70R17's.

Thanks

Running 265s will look bad. I ran them for about a month before my tires arrived, and it was an embarrassing month. It looks especially worse if you are running the stock tires

Lift= bigger tires. Thats the main reason for a lift; more room for bigger tires for more ground clearance. Go for a tire the next size up, you wont regret it! :cheers:

Doesn't look too bad. I'm running bfg in stock size with icon lift. Though 285 mt
Would definitely look better, I just hate to dump a good set of tires.

Thanks, that's what I figured I'm not ready to switch to bigger tires yet. I only wheel on mild trails with where i won't risk sliding into tree's and or to much pin striping :) so in other words no thing much more then really rough dirt roads. So I don't really need the extra clearance just yet.

Im the black sheep here and want to keep my lift on the low side....lol.

Yeah, I have a 2" spacer up front and a 1.5" spacer in the rear with stock sized Duratracs. It's a good setup, looks sharp... but...

... I'm getting ready to dump some money on an OW 2.5 lift, LR UCAs, 285 Falken WildPeaks and Black ATX Slot wheels.

Anyone in the market for stock TE wheels with 265 Duratracs on 'em?

yep, I mainly would want to level her out. I just don't want todo it with spacers :) so when I do it will be getting something with adjustable shocks and keep it on the low side too.

:reddance: You will love the upgrade.

I agree with everyone that the stock tires on a lifted truck look....well...out of place. the 275 is a good median between the 285 and 265, well actually its dead in the middle. The 275 will work well and wont affect gas mileage as much as the 285. Its late so I am really rambling and not thinking straight.

Nothing really, I just feel if your gonna do something may as well spend the extra $$ to do it right the first time.. :) since I have brand new BFG's and really don't want to try and sell them.. I'll save up and get bigger tires and lift at the same time.

Look at my build thread, it has pictures of the lift with 265s which I had for 8 months, as well as the 265 and 285 next to each other.

Thanks Icenomad, thats what I needed. I dont' think I could live with that much of a gap :) it would drive me crazy, so I'll just wait no hurry.

I cant tell which are which from the pics.

Did your CO's come set to 2.5" or did you crank them up ? I'm trying to figure out how to do this because I only want to lift 2-2.5 front and 1-1.5 in the back. I'm not looking for a height as much as I am to level it off and have better suspension. My truck is a 25k per year DD . Any help would be appreciated .... im getting lost with the vendors/people telling me different specs on stuff within the same company . Very confused right now.

265s = stock wheels
285s = new wheels
Both of my 265 and 285s are the same tire.

I assembled my COs, so they did not come set. My initial measurements can be found in the lifted thread and the measurements with 285s can be found in my build thread. COs can be adjusted prior to install or adjusted when they are installed with some lube and the adjustment tool provided. Adjusting the COs is a one person job.

You are making the lift choice more confusing than it needs to be. OW has a thread dedicated to explaining their lift options in detail and the type of customer they fit.

Here are some additional consideration points
Adjustable COs? allow you to fine-tune your height upfront. OW does not have adjustable COs, icon and toytec do. Also, if you add weight upfront throughout the course of life, you can keep the same set-up and crank the CO up a couple notches to get the ride back to the same height.

How much do you want to spend? Icon is pricey, toytec is more wallet friendly and OW is between the 2

Only looking to level the nose? spacers will level out the nose but will provide a stiffer ride than a whole new set of springs and shocks. Another optoin is to get bilsteins and set the height of them to the 2nd or 3rd height option, this will give a slightly, slightly better ride.

Want to get rid of the nose dive? You need stronger springs up front. While you add stronger springs, you might as well add new shocks at the same time and get the front end done at the same time.

Better suspension? Then you need new shocks and coils all around.

So you want to level it off AND get better suspension? you need new springs and shocks all around. You need to decide 1) how much you want to spend 2) take into account future modifications.

I think the minimum lift icon, toytec and OW offer for the rear is 2in. Look at a ruler, the difference between 1 and 2 inches is barely anything. This is your 4th or 5th thread on lifts, so you are making it more complicated than it needs to be and just asking the same question in different ways.

Why did I choose toytec? Because they are down the road, not too expensive, have adjustable COs to account for the weight that I planned on adding (bumper and winch up front) and the springs are stiffer in the rear which allowed me to add my storage box filled with supplies without sagging the rear.
