Question on fj coil swap

Hi all.... I own a 2008 v6 4runner 68000 miles and hate the rake on it....seems like the truck is squashed down.
Thinking of doing the fj swap with the adjustable blistein 5100's on it and leaving the rears for now.
Just wondering if i can use 2012 or newer fj coils or does it have to be around the same year as my truck? Also wil i be able to use my existing top plate bushings and hardware from my oem setup to use with assembling fj coil and billys?
The other option i have is using the ome 884 coils....not planning on doing much off roading, and dont have any extra weight on the front so i dont want the ride to feel too stiff.....basically want to give the truck a more aggressive stance...not this highlander look!!!

I would go with the FJ coils, and yes any 2007 or newer FJ coils will be a direct swap. You can reuse all needed components from the stock suspension.

probably best to replace the top plate hardware while you're at it, check rockauto.com, they're $20 each. also check out my build thread, I have links for all of those parts on page 2

we had a fj cruiser a customer purchased from us and wanted it to be lifted with the toytec 3" lift right away. So we had a set of 2013 front fj struts/springs and rear shocks and springs with 4 miles on them. I reused the 13 strut TOPS/springs rear springs as well all with no problems.

I was under the impression that 07-10 were direct fit, but 11+ requires minor modification..?

the front struts need modifications to the bottom mounts. Other than that the rear shock mounts are the same and the springs are the same.

I am usually not the guy who yells "read the sticky" But you guys know there is an entire 10+ page thread on FJ coil swap, correct? All these questions are answered, multiple times. Just read the sticky.

Correct. An 07 Fj set up will bolt on no problem no modification. But you won't net any major lift. Unless you use a spacer kit.

2007+ coils are a direct swap. 2007-2009 shocks are a direct swap. 2010+ shocks require minor modifications to fit.

I *should* net ~.25-.5 in of lift from the spring and shocks. I'm putting a 1" spacer up front to level it out. The FJ suspension, for me, at least, is, more than anything, for the ride stiffness.

Sorry for thread jack, OP. But, yes; FJ won't net a lot of lift, but it will stiffen the ride.

Thanks for all the info fellas. Going to go with these fj coils and 5100s to raise her up a bit...probably go with the 1.75 notch
