Questions about my 2005 Runner

Hey all!

I am new to the forums and really glad I found it. I just bought my first 4Runner. It's an 05 with 40K miles and in mint condition. I'm very happy.

Anyway, two quick questions I have already.

My keyless entry works to put the rear window down, but not up... I have to either use my key to put it up, or inside the vehicle with the switch once I have turned the accessory ignition on. Is this a safety feature or is something wrong with the window motor?

Also, I am interested in hard wiring my GPS to the car because of the fact that there is only one outlet up front. Any suggestions on the best way to do this?

Window button is only down. You can put it up by using the key in the trunk.

The GPS can easily be wired to the fuse box below the steering wheel. Get some fuse taps and wire them to the 12V cig lighter. There is a diagram on the back of the fuse box cover which can be removed without tools

Just make sure the GPS unit can handle 12V DC. You can look at the power adapter cable and it should tell you the voltage. For example, the adapter cable may say it is a 6V DC converter meaning that it can not be hardwired directly to the fuse box. You can always install a hidden power outlet and still use the original GPS power cable, but route it out of view. I did this with my XM satellite receiver.
