Questions about ordering a 2012

Why do some 5th gens come with Dueler H/L's and some with Dunlops? If i order one do i get to pick or request which ones?

Planning on ordering a 2012 in October and dealer said it would take 6 months. that sound right?

Also should i just pay $500 over invoice or what is a reasonable % off the MSRP, the T4R is a BASIC SR5 4x4 with only the power plugs in the rear + roof bars, came out to $33,325 on the 2011, what should i pay? Financing is already taken care of, CASH Money! Which I have also come to find out may hurt rather than help.

Note i live in OKC, OK, we are thriving here so new cars sell easily here. Should I email some other dealers in hurting areas of the country, I'm really open to getting one anywhere in the country as long as I can fly (or rent and drive) there for under what it saves me.

I think tires are regional. I got Bridgestones on mine. I think both OEM tires suck equally anyway, so don't worry too much about it. To get the best deal, you're better-off finding a car on the lot. It shouldn't be hard to find a basic SR-5 4x4.

That's the problem, both dealers can't find me exactly what I want. No sunroof seems tough to find, no power seats, no stereo upgrade, I'll I want is listed above. I just don't want to pay for that extra stuff I'll never use, I'm a very basic guy unless it comes to my toys, but basic transportation is different.

Has anyone in the USA ordered a 4Runner yet? And what % under MSRP did you pay?
 
I can understand/ respect wanting to get exactly what you want. However, you might save more than the $850 extra you'll pay for a sunroof by negotiating for a car already on the lot that the dealer wants to move. Just my $.02.

You could probably get more features and still save by buying off the lot... plus you have 6 months to wait and see. Dealer is probably saying 6 months because in 6 months it will be 2012 and they will be arriving on our shores...
 
I was told by a dealer that he could order exactly what I wanted but it would probably take a few months to get it. I waited almost a month and still had nothing even ordered. Basically they take what cars they are given in the region and try to trade with other dealerships to get what they are looking for. He finally admitted this to me and said he was having trouble getting the exact 4 runner setup that I wanted. Also, this guy said that I was going to have to pay full MSRP as the 4 runners are in short supply and sell as fast as they hit the lots.

So, I called around to dealerships within 200 miles and found a guy who got me a new 4 runner (exact specs/color/etc that I wanted) withing 4 days after I first contacted him. It hit the Texas coast last Tues or Wednesday and was at the dealer on Friday. I picked it up with all of the stickers and tags still on it, 4 miles on the odo. He gave me about 700 over MSRP which I gladly paid for his hard work and professionalism.

Good luck finding your truck. I hated dealing with the local Toyota dealerships in my area as I found them to be dishonest, lazy and a little sleezy. Luckily I found a young guy at a small dealership in a small town that was hungry and busted his butt to find what I wanted and made it happen.

If you think you will get a better deal by financing, do so. Then just pay it off at the end of the month.
 
When I was looking at buying a 5th gen in Texas off the lot with just the base model the price I was given was 28,000 give or take a few hundred.

I just had to get a tire replaced from the dealer on my 2011 SR5 and they said Toyota is discontinuing the Dunlop and that I got the last one the had in stock. I was in a rush and didnt get a chance to ask what the new tire would be. I know, I failed.

yeah man, i think i paid 33,700 and i got sr5 4x4, leather, moon roof, all power controls, heated seats, etc. (although no 120 volt power plugs, but that option was cheap i believe)

so i bet you could find a base SR5 4x4 for cheaper.

I've not heard of that capability being open to just anyman. A few members seem to have had good success buying through a broker. Try Searching, or start a new thread to locate one.... or Google?

With the 'scarcity' of 4Rs, I 'd be amazed if you find a stripper anywhere.

They have it listed on there website as a separate option, kinda like an accessory. But - if that can't be done thats fine too, all i really need is the roof cross bars and 4x4 and i'm set.

I'll have to dive into a bit more in Oct, this is not really a "need" more of a want. I already have a LT Tahoe 4x4 (145K miles), 335i, just wanted a 3rd auto so i could retire my tahoe to the garage and to use as a tow pig / bad weather truck and use the 4Runner for trips to the mountains and long trips with the family. I also have a fleet of company trucks (chevy 1/2 tons, f-150's, tahoe, expeditons) to chose from when i need to travel for work.

Ok, I have an offer from the dealer on a 2011 SR5 4X4, with power seats and carpet mats - $31,839 + 199 doc fee.

Best deal I can find in OK or within every state boarding us, does it seem reasonable?
 
It does not matter what we think as two different guys can go to the same dealership on the same day and buy the exact same 4Runner and pay thousands of dollars different and both pay below MSRP or even invoice. Just depends. If the deal makes YOU happy then it's a good price. Get it and have fun!

What makes me happy is not purchasing things then finding out I over paid by more than $500.
