Questions after driving it for a bit

So I have a couple questions that i have started to wonder after driving it for a bit.

1. Steering feels loose/hard to drive. I know its no race car but I had it to 140km/h and it felt really unstable. Steering feels loose and I am wondering what it could be and if there is anything to do to fix it.

2. Not sure if it is just because it is an old vehicle but it seems like it runs rich. You can really smell the exhaust when idling.

3. When going into full lock, it sounds like some thing in the front driver side is going " CLUNK " " CLUNK ". Something with the suspension but not sure what it is. I checked the CV and its fine, it would most likely be something steering. Right?

Could you give a little more info on the vehicle itself? Year, mileage, general condition...
