Questions for 2007 owners....

I am about to order a 2007 SE V8 4x4 with these options:

Side signal mirrors
air bags
10 spkr JBL
115volt power
rear spoiler
homelink
sunroof
carpet floormats

I have a couple questions regarding the 4runner and if you owners out there could help me I would appreciate it.

1) what are the daytime running lights? are they the high beams at half power like most cars are or are they like some of the GM vehicles where is more the orange marker lights that are bright? I'm thinking about ordering mine WITHOUT the DRL due to occasional hunting and needing to be running without lights on. please explain how these work.

2) what are the rear tail lights? LED or are they regular halogen/tungsten bulbs. I saw a newer 4runner the other day stopped in front of me at a stop light and they were LED. I was wondering if this guy put on aftermarket or they came that way stock.

3) side signal mirrors- do they look exactly like the stock mirrors? are they heated and powered like the stock ones? what does the signal look like??? A big red LED "V" or what?

4) what kind of realistic mileage are you pulling with those with V8's? city/highway

Thanks for your help in advance!

06 4runners and up have the led tail lights. The DRL are the orange marker lights on my 06 which should be the same for the 07. I had the "half-power" headlight DRLs on my Tundra and hated it, the orange looks much better when you don't want to be shining your headlights. Can't help you with the side signal mirrors. Do a search for the mileage question, there a ton of threads and polls already on the subject. I am getting around 20 on the computer so that should be around 18 in reality.

Haven't heard of the side signal mirrors as a factory option. Maybe they're aftermarket, put on by the dealer?

I think it's a port installed item but it's only offered on the Gulf States Region Dealers.

That makes sense... Southest Toytota (SET) is willing to add a lot of aftermartket stuff at the port. There are other posts here about SET shipping Sport's with leather interior, and they even made up a whole new trim level, the "X-SP".

As long as the dealer warranties those options as if they were genuine Toyota, they should be nice add-ons.

Is there a reason why they wouldn't warranty them? You're buying it that way from the dealer I would think they would have to warranty it. You think I should stay away from the port mods. I think window tinting was one also.

Some port-installed options are genuine Toyota parts, so they're covered. But SET has some that are not Toyota parts (like the mirrors), so Toyota doesn't warranty those. But if the dealer does warranty them because they're installed by SET, then I don't see a problem.

I don't think this is a showstopper - just go into the purchase knowing about this and ask about the warranty.

Yeah I asked the stealership today and they are fully warrantied under the bumper to bumper.

What is SET? Have you seen these mirrors in person? They worth it? Should I steer clear of the port installed mirrors and window tint? Be better off getting tint from a local shop? I'm purchasing in AR and bringing it back to MO.

SET is the acronym for Southeast Toyota, the distribution region along the Gulf Coast (Louisiana over to Florida).

No, I haven't seen the mirrors. I think that sounds like a cool thing to have, though.

I wonder if they just aren't made by this company: http://www.kwmuth.com/products/kits/220-0160.htm

Regarding your gas mileage question,
Around town the best I can squeeze from the V8 is 16.4-17.1.
You really need to focus on best MPG driving techniques to get
those numbers.

These figures were had during the winter in an area that offers many hills. On the highway the best I can pull is 20.5 that requires keeping it under 65MPH...
