Can you guys help out ZAM, a fellow member on M3 board?? Here is his PM to me:

To keep this short, as you may know we've got a 2000 4Runner. My wife & I were at the dealer and she loves the 04 Runner. I've only done a moderate bit of research but was confused about the following:

-Can I get a Limited with 3rd row seating, & Navi? Can I get any 04 4Runner with third row and Navi?

-Is there a Toyota rear DVD entertainment system offered on the 4runner?

I ask because our next SUV will have 3rd row & every electonic gadget known to man. The minimum being Navi and rear DVD. From my limited search the 4Runner only offers the Navi while the Seqioua only offers the rear dvd. Is this true or am I missing something?

Navi is an option on all models.

3rd row seat is only an option available on the SR5 and Limited (not Sport...for some reason).

DVD I'm not 100% sure but I don't think it is an available option...might have to do a custom job.

PS: Make sure you at least drive a XREAS equipped 4runner.
 
I looked on toyota.com and yes you could have a third row seat with nav and yes you could have a rear DVD entertainment system. It has to be custom built from the factory.
 
Nav is only on available on the Limited. The DVD is a dealer option. When I built a 4Runner on toyota.com, it was different options for different regions.
 
I don't think you can get the Limited with Nav and third row seating. The Navigation system requires that you get the 10 speaker JBL System which does not come with the 3rd row seating. Same goes for rear seat DVD System.
 
Hmmm...Just checked and it seems they have changed a couple things since I ordered my 4Runner a couple weeks ago. When I choose Rear DVD System it was mandatory that you get the JBL 10 Speaker system. Now you can get the DVD System with just the standard stereo. Which means that you can have the Rear DVD System and 3rd row seating on SR5 and Limited models. But the Nav system comes with the JBL 10 Speaker system which does not allow you to get the 3rd row.
 
here is some option info from kbb which is pretty indepth imo. it seems the only place you can possible get all that you want is usually found in only the SE region. only reason i say this is because i use to live in GA and when i moved, i would go back to GA to buy my toyota's since you could get options in the SE region that you couldnt get anywhere else in the US.

thai the best place i have found is to use www.kbb.com to find out every option you could possible get for toyota's and what regions each option is restricted to and what options conflict with other options.


also did you notice that if you get option EF you can get option EJ and NV only in the gulf states, but anywhere else you cant get them.

Your options are actually

1. DVD and 3rd Row /w 6 speaker system (only on SR5 and Limited)
2. DVD and NAV /w 10 speaker system (only on Limited)

(NAV System comes with 10 speaker system)

I just checked KBB and I beleive this is right. Its kinda confusting but i'm pretty sure thats what it says. So its pretty much up to 3rd row and 10 speaker system. a lot of things are not available if you get 3rd row seating.

you can get the ED option with TH

Hello everyone else, I'm Zam the noob when it comes to 4Runners and offroading!

Anyways, I didn't realize that we had to drop so many things just to get the 3rd row(my sales manual says no 10 speakers JBL, Sunroof or Navi :( ). Albeit, I agree that it is pretty small and def an afterthought by Toyota, but the wife wants the 3rd row soooo....

What about the possiblity of buying a non-3rd row Limited with everything and then purchasing the 3rd row separate? I'd need the belts, mounting bolts and ???. Good bad?

I'm going to do some kbb research in the Florida area...
 
you could get all those options and then add the 3rd row yourself, but i think the hard points to mount the 3rd rows on the passenger side is where the JBL subwoofer is for the rear cargo area. also if i remember, the rear seats are different to be able to let someone into the 3rd row area.

i think they flip forward (passenger side) instead of fold flat when you get the 3rd row. so you would have to change the rear seats to accomedate the 3rd row accessability.

also the 3rd row seats are actually 2 jump seats if i remember and not a real bench.

if you want a real 3rd row bench seat i think you have to go up to a land cruiser/lexus model. thats why i say toyota implemented the 3rd row as an after thought.

Third-row foldaway 50/50 split fold-down removable seats (second-row tumble-forward with third-row seats)

so this confirms that the 2nd row seats flip forward instead of folding flat like the non 3rd row 4runners. so on top of buying/installing the 3rd row, you would have to replace the 2nd row seats to the flip forward versions.

you would end up paying about as much/more for the work as it would be to just go out and get a lexus/land cruiser probably. i have no idea since im a 4runner person and never interested in the higher price versions.
