Questions from New Owner of a 97 SR5, lower key fob button?

A couple of things on a truck I bought used.

The key fob has two buttons. Up til this afternoon pressing the top button once locks the car and a second push unlocks it (or vice versa).

Today it did the same thing except that when you lock it the light flash and the horn beeps once, unlock it and the lights flash and the horn beeps twice.

Which is normal, with lights/ beep or without? Can it be turned on/off?

Also, what is the lower button on the keyfob for, it doesn't seem to do anything at all.

What is the procedure for setting the alarms?

I can find nothing about any of this in the manual that came with the truck.

lower button is probably for the rear window. if the truck is unlocked and you hit it, it will lower the rear window all the way.

as for lights and horn, mine just flashes the parking and tail lights once when i lock, twice when i unlock.

What does the lower button on the key fob do?

Not the rear window, just tried it.

As to the horn honking when I close and open the car, I must have had a door or window open because it stopped doing it.

But I still don't know what the lower button does.

The lower button probably doesn't do anything... a standard remote will usually have one button that locks/unlocks the vehicle. The other button has to be programmed to run something else. On passenger cars, it's usually the trunk. Also, some remotes also have a PANIC button in case of an emergency. Usually have to hold this one down for a moment to activate it.
