I am fine with the way my stock speakers sound except for the fact that their isnt that much bass. If i wanted to get subs would i have to upgrade the speakers also?

And say i wanted to get 2 12's would i have to get an extra battery to power all that?(any recommendations on subs)

If someone would explain to me how all this works.

You don't have to upgrade the speakers, I used the factory speakers for a year until I heard them start to crackle after turning it up too high. (I have an aftermarket HU.) If you just want some bass I think a pair of 12's is a bit much. I use a pair of 10" (Audiobahn 1000X, I think) in a sealed box, and believe me they hit hard if I crank it. I don't use anything for extra power i.e. no extra battery or cap. I'm using an amp (Crunch V2150) that puts out 600W bridged.

You need to figure out how much bass you really want and how much you want to spend.

You can probably run up to 800-1000 watts safely on the stock alternator. After that you might need to look into upgrading your electrical.

The first place to start though is the HU. It will make a big difference.

I already have a Kenwood hu.

How much did the two 10's and the amp cost you?

Go to crutchfield.com and they will walk you through everything. Two 10's or one twelve will be more sufficient. They are running a deal right now on Polk amp and sub combo's. You can get an amp and a 12" sub inclosed for around 300$. add the wiring for 69$ and you are set.

I just installed and Alpine IPOD deck with bluetooth adapter and SWI-JAck this past weekend. Crutchfield was awesome! Good luck.

I couldn't even begin to guess how much I paid, I've had those since 2002.

If you are asking me about my install, yes I did all the wiring myself. I'm using an 8 gauge wire for the power and ground. Then of course the RCA cables. I have it all going on the drives side of the vehicle. The plastic trim pieces around the door pop off easily, just give it a bit of a pull.
