Hi, I just picked up a new fifth gen. in Blizzard Pearl (see pictures) and I've a few questions that I hope some of you might be able to help me with.
First, the vehicle had 193 miles on it at delivery. Right before we came to look at it the dealer traded it (literally an hour or so before we arrived) to another dealership 85 miles away. They then traded for it back and it arrived back on the lot about five hours later. We put five or so miles on it during the test drive, so it had twenty-five miles on it otherwise. My reason for pointing this out is due to some of the ambiguities in the owner's manual on pg. 155 regrading the break in period. To my memory it basically says that within the first thousand miles you're to avoid "sudden acceleration", driving at a constant speed for extended periods, and to avoid extremely high speeds.
I thought, if this is so important, they'd probably put one of those hang tags somewhere in the car, like they do for the Xm radio activation, but nonetheless I'm still wondering whether or not I've violated some of these rules because the manual really doesn't spell out what "extremely high speeds" are, nor what "extended periods" are. I can't say what the dealer did with the car before I got it, but I've since put about 150 miles on it at varying speeds. Of course, we had to drive it home, and I did 80MPH for about 45 minutes. Does that break any rules? What are the consequences if some of these rules were broken before I took delivery and if they were, how would one know?
Lastly, there's a small paintchip on the vehicle (see pictures). Upon discovery the dealer handed me some touchup paint, but I'm holding off on using it until I have some opinions on what other options might exist.
