Quick cv axle install question

Hey guys. I just pulled my old axle out and am about to put the new one in buy noticed this washer on the outer most portion. I didn't see this one the old axle .. Does it go on the inward (diff side) and mount in the hub? Thanks for any quick replies

I didnt use the washer as it would keep the splines from entering the hub. I assume this axle has other platforms than our truck where they might use it? PLEASE let me know if I made a mistake haha. Thanks
 
I have never seen a washer used, Toyota doesn't use it from the factory....so definitely throw it away.
 
x3 my last one came with a washer. Asked the guys at NAPA if they knew anything about it when I went to return my core and they were clueless. Chuck it. Not sure what it's for.
 
Can't tell you how many cv axles I've replaced and not once have I seen that washer/spacer. Dunno what it's for?!
 
thanks for the replies guys, very much appreciated! i only ended up doing the one side for now, i didnt find it hard just frustrating getting the axle back in place.. i quickly realized its alllll about having the proper tools (aka BFH and proper pry/wrecking bar).

i was also going to do my LBJ.. but i called the local dealership and they wanted $165 a PIECE!! ill just have to ship them in from good ol us of a
