Found a 4runner out at the yard with an elocker. What axle code indicates what gear ratio? I would search but it is a little tough on the mobile. Thanks for the help!
That should have 4.56s with that gear code.
If it's an auto then they are 4.30s. 4.10s came in 5-speed e-locked. And I think 4.56 only came in 5-speed e-locked with the 4-cylinder engine.
Regardless, you should pull the front diff as well and send them to me! :wink2:
Edit: I guess I'm mistaken! Nice find!
So let me get this straight. The v6's (3.4) came with 4.30 gears? For some reason i always thought my 4Runner had 4.10s from factory..No locker, auto trans..
Only 4cyl e-locked 4runners had 4.56's so if it's a V6 then it's either 4.30 or 4.10. All Limiteds with the e-locker came with 4.30's and all 5-speeds with the e-locker came with 4.10. Most auto sr5's with the locker came with 4.30's, but there are some that came with 4.10's.
This whole time, I was under the impression that all 4runners with the e-locker had 4.30's. I've been lied to my whole life! I guess this means I've been running around with 35's and only 4.10's haha. Maybe one day I will regear then.
Ok thanks fellas. I was getting confused there for a min.
Haha, I'd be killing myself I was running that combo. I know the 5 speed helps, but damn. 4.88's probably be a good match since you're a mall crawler...eep:

I'm not here to argue with any of you guys, i just have used this guy's site on my own and keep it bookmarked.

That's exactly what I'm thinking now! I always knew I didn't want to go 5.29s, and back when I was thinking I already had 4.30s, I didn't think it would be a big enough difference to justify the price if I went to 4.88s. But now... hmm haha :juggle:
Yeah his site is very helpful, but I've heard numerous people say that they found some of his info wrong. Like many have said before, the safest way to know is the spin test or count the teeth. Plus Toyota sometimes is all over the place with their info so who knows.
