Quick Question about waxing

I'v egot some spar etime on my hands tonight, its day light savings so I got like 2 hours to work with. I barely have any spare time.

But I'm starting to wash my car now, but also am thinking about waxing my car.

What's the benefits to waxing the car? How long will it take, I have my friends buffer on me today! How much is a good wax?

Waxed mine for the first time this weekend with Meguiar's NXT Generation liquid wax...only took about 40 minutes! In fact, the washing took way longer (after all the rain we've had in No. CA)

Amazing how smooth the paint now feels!

No better way to spend your spare time than waxing your baby...

It took me a long time to do the entire process: (in order)

wash

clay
wash
dry w/ microfiber towels
AIO w/ porter cable
AIO SG w/ porter cable
wait one day
AIO SG w/ porter cable
Sonus Polish w/ porter cable
P2S1 wax ($30) w/ porter cable

Also, Stoner Invisible glass for the windows inside and out.

303 Aerospace for the dash and plastic.
Also get dog hair out with Meguires pet brush

Total time was 6 hrs for the first day.
2nd day was 3-4 hrs.

It was my first time waxing so I took my time.

Wax provides a layer of protection for your clearcoat. It is recommended that you do it twice a year depending on where you live, garaged or not.

You can always get it done at the carwash. I don't let anyone detail or wash my car. The dealer always looks at me funny when I tell them no free carwash.

For those of us with kids... I wax mine 3 times per year (too cold in the winter). I use Zaino which is a polymer based product. Fantastic shine, easy on, easy off and lasts a long time. Generally I spend about 2-3 hours each time to wash,clay, wash, and wax.

Wax and polymer based products protect the clear coat and paint from all of the environmental hazards and sun damage. I know some people that never wax their cars (even at the car wash) and you can tell after 6-7 years as the finish becomes dull.

Zaino and NXT are the most popular on the Corvette board that I frequent.

Personally, I've used NXT (which is cheaper and more readily available at any auto parts store), and I highly recommend it.

It is a liquid, which is very easy to apply and work with. I want to say I spent 60-90 minutes using it on my Tahoe, so I would think you could do a 4Runner in an hour.

It will help protect the paint, and it will just make you ride look awesome. I couldn't believe how good/shiny it looked when I was done. It is also fun to watch water roll off your hood when it rains.

If your car is brand new, polishing isn't recommended. Especially abrasive polish.

I recently used Klasse all in one. Very easy and the rig came out great. I just got the klasse sealent, and will be applying that in the near future.

I've used Meguiar's M0616 #06 Liquid Cleaner/Wax first and then Meguiar's G12718 Meg Nxt Gen.Tech Wax. It came out great!
