Quick Question about wheel painting.

Hey guys. I wanted to paint my wheels. I have plans to do all 4 I know what paints and primers I need but I dont now how much. I was thinking
One can 11 ounce Graphite wheel paint
One 11 ounce Wheel clear coating
Should those two cans do it or should I double up on both or?

Also I wanted to paint my brake claipers should one 12 ounce can of high heat paint work for both?
All these paints are by Rustoleum.

I would use about 1 can of each product per wheel.

Use self etching primer (2 coats), Paint (2 coats), then clear coat (2 coats). You can go for more or less coats of any products but that's what I did.

I used the Rustoleum as well, the finish came out smooth and they look great months later.

Basically, 4 cans of primer, 4 cans of paint, and 4 cans of clear coat.

For the calipers, 1 can of high heat primer and 1 can of paint should do the job.

That sound just about right but I'm on a budjet. Do you think there is a way I can get away with
2 cans of paint and 2 cans of clear coat. Be honest with me here will that look bad because I want do it right the first time. Should I just wait till I have more money?

I did one coat of primer, 2 coats of paint and one coat clear. Mine look fine over a year later. I wouldn't stress too much on this mod. It can be easily fixed if something goes wrong. (Note: I did not use wheel paint so the cans may be smaller)

I think I got away with one can of paint but 2 will definitely do it. Get a cheap deck of cards to make life easier and lay them sideways between the wheel and tire. If you lay them straight up the wind tends to catch them and blow them out sometimes.

I painted my wheels before I bought new ones. Honestly, people do the spray can paints and all that mess (like I did), but from experience, I would go get them powder coated. If you don't have the money, wait! It will be MUCH MUCH cheaper in the long run if you don't plan on getting new rims anytime soon. I used around 5-6 cans of paint alone on all 4 wheels(multiple coats). Then the clear coat and sand paper and paint thinner. It is time consuming and will require touch-ups from time to time. Everytime I got back from offroading, my rims were tore up! I had to touch them up a lot. With powder coating, it is a much more durable finish and you will be extremely pleased! Dont do like I did, go get them powder coated! I actually bought new rims because I hated the upkeep of my wheels. It was one of my most favorite investments. If I would have powder coated my factory wheels, I would probably still have them on today.

I second that, i just didnt use clearcoat. After 8 months they look brand new and I certainly dont baby them.

^ this is all you need. I did mine the same way, they came out great.

For my new wheels though,mi did go the powder coat route. $70/wheel and they look awesome.
