quick question on 22re swap compatibility

First off ive been searching and reading for two days, I just want to reassure myself of a few things. Im swapping a wrecking yard 22re into the runner in place of my shot current 22re.

Ive read up on the year to year compatibility issues as far as swapping components over, and I have a pretty solid grasp: Basically swap EVERYTHING over to the new block and everything should be fine.

The one thing im not clear on is the speedometer.

In a 1990 body with a 1990 engine and transfer case (manual cable, not sensor), what do i need to worry about if the engine i pick up is newer 1993 -1995 and has a sensor? I would imagine since I still have the same transfer case, dash ecu and everything else it shouldnt matter right?

I guess i just dont understand where the "sensor" is. How does it connect from the transfer case to the dash?

If i missed this in a thread somewhere I apologize

The speedo, whether mechanical or electronic, connects to the trans (or t-case if 4WD). So the engine isn't part of the equation.

Hit reply too soon.
The electronic speedo sensor mounts the same as a mechanical one.
Just has a wire between it and the speedo instead of a cable
