Quirky Controls?

Upon test driving the new 4Runner, I was wondering how long it will take to get used to the seemingly odd controls for various things.

My wife will drive this a lot, so we all know the ladies are not great with such things!

I bought my 4runner 2 days ago. I agree, many of the controls are oddly placed and/or otherwise unfamiliar at first. On the otherhadn, I'm already used to all of them.

The fan & a/c heater controls seemed "unintuitive."

Use the Auto-climate button, set the temperature, and forget about it.

That's impossible to answer.

Why?
Because everyone is different: one person may have a photo graphic memory and know where everything is and what it does within minutes, or the person can be a complete idiot and go a year and still not know all the controls. The answer is, it depends on the person.

Or it could be worse, you could be like my father that can't seem to pick up anything that is electronic. He can screw up a remote, and to think he was asking me if he should get a computer. I told him if he gets a computer I am moving out of the state.

I thought they were very easy -- pick a fan speed, a temperature, and where you want the air to come out. With the pictures they use, it seemed really easy.

Guess it's a case of YMMV.

Never had a problem getting used to them. I have seen cars with climate controls that are harder to use. Buttons are large and are clearly marked. It is not as bad as it looks. If you are worried about controls that are hard to use, it would be the windows, lock/unlock, and power mirrors switches. They are positioned way to low and are hard to reach while driving! :rolling:
