Quitting my job tomorrow

After a couple of years of debating about doing something different and exploring different things in life I've decided to move on . NO I don't have another job even lined up. I'm going to just chill out and get myself centered physically, mentally , spiritually. Then start off and try new things , I want to try some new things in life and get more fullfillment and passion out of my work. I'm very lucky & blessed that I'm in a financial position to do that.

Its damn scary walking away from a 14 year job and a 28 year career in the corp. world just because .

I still will work part time for the US Marshall's office, but that is an on call thing only but does happen quite often.

I'm not worried about what the future holds , because I know who holds my future.

I'm very excited about the new adventures and challanges to come.

Who knows maybe I'll even start selling Toyotas ...lol , since the salesmgr has been after me since I bought my 4R. I do have a marketing project I'm working on hopefully that will take off , if not we'll move on .:D

Good for you bro! It takes a lot of courage to quit something you've done for so long and try something new. Let us know what you end up doing.

There are alot of things involved , scared chitless , emotions of leaving my company , where the next paycheck will come from , making sure I keep pushing on and not sittin on my arse.

This has been the most anxiety producing thing I've ever done in my life,but at the same time the most exciting.

Sooo...can I have your 4Runner? You won't be needing it since you're going to be running butt-neked in the hills finding you inner spirit on the plane of enlightenment right? :p

Seriously, you go for it and the best of luck. I admire your courage and determination in living your life to the fullest. Not too many people can just drop everything on a dime and take that leap. I actually envy you since I want to do something like that too and see the world. Yeah, life is too short. Keep us posted and keep safe!

Thanks for the support guy's......you all rock !! must be a Toyota thing...lol. I'll have to put the Corvette on hold until spring ( per my wifes instructions...lol)
She has been so supportive of this decision its really been a blessing.

Alot of my decision was stressed based and was taking its toll on my health. It just was'nt worth it anymore. The stress was coming from inside my own team in bad management.

I can handle alot of stress ( hence my US Marshall job ) which can get extremely tense , but for some reason I thrive on that stress.....go figure.

Well good for you - and the best of luck!

As many others have indicated, I admire your commitment and courage to make this change. I do not know your personal circumstances but I can only imagine (and dream) of letting go of the corporate B.S. ratrace and moving on. Getting older and working harder with less to show for it is getting old.

During the past few years I have had the same thoughts but a few things keep me from doing it: three girls with grade school/High school tutition, one daughter starting college next year, an elderly father to look after, and a mortgage!

My wife and I always say by the time our youngest is out of college we will be in our early 60's and probably too tired and unhealthy to follow our other dreams.

For now our dreams of getting away involve packing up the 4Runner and heading off into the woods for a day or two of camping.

Dont EVER give up on your dreams !!! I'm fortunate to be in a good position financially , 2 of the 3 cars are paid for , excellent heath ins. thru the wife , No kids ( a biggie ) i'm sure , Just paid off the mortgage 4 weeks ago , no credit card debt. With a little luck , alot of hard work , good investments , a side job which is a life risk ( wife don't like that ) , carefull planning I was able to put myself in a good position. I also was lucky when I got divorced from wife #1 ( no kids there either ) we owned a few townhouses & duplex and although I had to split it 50/50 with her we made out like bandits. She blew her money and I invested it . Don't get me wrong I can't sit around and loaf , it would drive me nuts. Already working on my next marketing project and detailing cars on the side ( passion of mine and good $$$) , going to take some classes too.
 
This has been such a refreshing change for me , I'm loving it . Its a little change in lifestyle , but nothing major at all. I feel so much releif of stress and its like my creative brain is waking up again after all these years....such a cool feeling.

My classes start on Nov. 20th 4 hrs per day mon/wed/fri. I still teach one class on wed. nite. Not doing to much detailing because of time. The marketing projects are coming along well and have 3 products in developement to play with to see if we can get them to go anywhere. I've basically been drumming and doing my USM job and trying to live off that right now and not tap into any savings acct. or investment money.

USM job has beeen busy , got called away 3x in last 2 weeks , they call & I run....

Scary but great challange , thanks guys for the support & encouragement

I see you have balls to do something like that. i hate my job, but i'm too afraid to quit it because im not sure if i can find anything better with my experience :(

Good luck bro. Let me ask you this (i may have missed it) but what did you do?

I must admit that change somewhat scares me, but i know with a good head on my shoulders and a drive to succeed anything is possible. I kinda look at you with envy, b/c you can just do it. Me being only 29, i'm not quite there financially yet.

I was a acct. rep for a large printing company. The money and perks were good . Dont get me wrong , I'm not a rich guy , yes I have my mtg. paid off and my retirement set in property & investments.

This has been the best experience and challenge. It humbling and rewarding at the same time , I really cant explain it ..... just weird.

I am currently doing a few things. 1. working in fed.law enforcement part time. 2. I have a few products that I'm trying to see if there is a market for and working on development of that . 3. Also working at a mental heath facility doing crisis line support and response part time. Its very interesting , you have no idea how fortunate we all are. 4. I also detail cars on the side .

I will have to get a real job at some point ... maybe. I'll have to see how things work out but its been great so far.

I got laid off from work two frickin days before Thanksgiving! So I too have extra time on my hands researching what to do next. Good Luck:cheers:
 
Not to hijack a thread,

But isn't it sad that there is no loyalty on the end of employers anymore. It is all about the bottom line. Of course i understand the business model, that yes, it is indeed about the bottom line, but if you don't have the employees to get the bottom line, then there is no business.

Sorry fo b*tching but i am just all kinds of mad due to the year end numbers for me..
 
I applaud you. Sounds like youve got your chit together. My chit is so far from being together, that sometimes I think its roaming the midwest plains. Oh well I quit my job too, and I liked what I did. I do heavy and highway construction operating heavy equipment. Its time for a change I guess. Oh well, I swim best when I'm in water thats too deep. You'll figure out whats up and when you do it will be an epiphany. For me, well its back to school, something I haven't done in about 13 years.

Don't forget to get in a little fishin' or canoeing or whatever play it is that lights you up. You only go round once. Have fun doing it.
