Hey all, I'm curious as to what people turn for rpms while at cruising speeds on the highway. I'd like to know as my 4runner cruising between 70-75 mph I'll usually be running about 2,850 give or take. And if I ever hit 80 its 3,100+ I am running a 265/70 tire on 16x8 wheels with stock gearing which is 4:10s because I have a 5speed. Does this sound about right in rpm range?

Please state what tire size and gearing you have along with rpms and speed also, please and thank you!!!

That is real close to mine. I'm a little lower now that I have 265/75-16s on.
3.4L 5 speed, 4:10

I have never owned a vehicle with a tach except this 94 Honda 4cyl and it would turn about the same rpms, that's why I ask. It seemed to be a little hi but I have no clue what is average. I do love the low speed torque, dropping the clutch is fairly fun in this rig!!!

Stock everything auto. 75 mph 2400 rpm. 80 mph 2500 rpm. Before my coil pack was replaced, it ran at a slightly higher rpm. Weird.

Hmm seems like I am running higher rpms then some of you guys, maybe its the tire size? Doesn't matter tho once I get my promotion tires and gears will be changing anyways. Even around town it seems to run high rpms but there sooo much stop and go It's a little harder to keep track of

As of yesterday:
65mph- 2400rpm
70mph- 2625rpm
75mph- 2850rpm

So I'm guessing that at 80mph, I'll be at about 3075rpm

This is with stock gears and plus one on the tires. My speedometer and GPS read extremely close. (give or take a couple of mph)

The reason your rpms are higher is because you have a manual trans. When I had a manual tacoma the rpms were always higher than my auto. Your rpms are normal

2800 rpm at 58-60mph. gotta love 5.29's 35's and a manual trans. These trucks cruise pretty good at that rpm so i keep it 60 or under on the highway

My 22re cruises at 70mph, 3000rpm w/ 31" tires. 3000rpm @ 80 would sound nice. Cruising over 3000rpm hits an OCD section of my brain. It literally bothers me. Haha
