Rad Rubber Design engine splash guards

I installed a set of these today on my 4th Gen. They were a $58.35 and took a couple of weeks to arrive. I was immediately impressed. They are thick but flexible. They came with clear instructions and a little sticker. The fasteners are also high quality. They are made in the USA. My old guards were totally gone. The scraps that were left were brittle, thin plastic, unlike these rubber replacements. Installation took me about 20 minutes in my driveway. I did use a fastener pulling tool (not included) to remove a few old body fasteners. I am very pleased with the product!

They are great splash guards. A repair shop destroyed my old, brittle oem splash guards, but didn’t even bother to tell me.

I bought a set of the standard splash guards a year or two ago, recently did a 1” body lift, and then bought a second set of splash guards for 4Runners with a body lift.

The splash guards look like they will last forever. There have been a few threads here about them, and I don’t remember anyone saying anything negative about them. Some people have cut their own, from big sheets of whatever the material is, to save a few bucks.

agreed - super high quality product. got a set 2 weeks ago. super simple to install and very well made (read: over-engineered). would def recommend to anyone who needs to replace their OEM guards. if you haven't replaced them yet - take a look - it might be time! my original guards literally fell apart during removal for my lift installation. these were a no-brainer for replacements.

Those look awesome, and it’s good you can buy a nice replacement for these old truck parts. I went the DIY route myself using a .pdf someone posted a few years back on here. I found some nice heavy textured rubber in a roll at HD, traced the templates and cut them out. Saved a bit of money, but it took extra time, making the ones the op posted a really good deal for a plug and play solution, especially when you have to source fasteners, which like I did.

It's amazing that a seemingly innocous mod such as this is so satisfying! I had these on my GX470 for several years, and am waiting on delivery of a set for my 4R.

Nice find. How thick is the rubber? The rad rubber is almost 3mm thick. Are those clips any good?

One eBay review said the clips were junk. The other 7 reviews don’t mention the clips. The typical review says “as described”.

I’m not familiar with the many splash guards for sale on eBay, but I strongly recommend the Rad Rubber guards. They will last forever.

I bought a set, then did a body lift and had to buy another set. I sold the old set here on T4R.org.

Serious question. Since the middle area is not covered due to suspension, if it's nasty out the mud and gunk will get in that way, so how much does it really change the end result?

I have these Ebay ones on my truck Both of my original rears ones were brittle and broken. I did not change my front ones as they were still intact. I remember being impressed by quality of the rubber and thickness. I reused my old clips so I can’t speak to the ones provided. I will measure them when I get back home later today.

It doesn’t really change the end result. It is mostly to have guards that are more durable. All four of my stock guards were completely destroyed. The Rad Rubber Design (and similar) guards will hopefully last forever.
