radiator finally installed right

I wish I would of done this myself, but because it was leaking the first week I bought it I wanted someone to take care of it right of way. So I took it to Pep Boys. Only place open on a Sunday. After the initial installation I noticed I had to top off coolant reservoir every other day. I took it back and the mechanic had to put another radiator in. The first one was defective. What are the chances of that? Anyway it's the Spectra brand and from what I read it's decent. It has a lifetime warranty on it, so I guess that's good.

Im on a Spectra in my Runner. And had one in my previous Pathfinder. Both have done fine for me. No worries.

I was always under impression that they pressure tested these things before leaving the factory. I could be wrong :shrug:

Working in aftermarket parts, I can say I see enough "new defects" to avoid them, there are plenty of good ones out there but I see enough returns to make me not want to waste my time doing it twice. I won't say Spectra is the worst offender by a long shot, but definitely doesn't make the top of my list. There is reason everyone on here recommends OEM, if you shop around you can get OEM pretty reasonably

I'm planning to pick up the Spectra radiator this week as well. I've not read or seen anything yet to indicate that they are subpar. Plus, if I have a problem with it, il just take it back to the store — which sure beats having to re-box & mail out a now used radiator then wait a week or so for a replacement.

I have a spectra on my honda
it took 3 rads to finally get one without developing a leak by the drain plug
Its nice to have a warranty
But the downfall is coolant cost

Bought a Denso for me, 100 bucks on amazon primed. Packing was meh, but it seems fine. Made in taiwan which is where the OEM is one is made. but who knows. Might vacuum test the transmission radiator just to be sure...
Then fluid film the transmission connectors to prevent rust.

Installed a Spectra radiator July 2014,still going strong. No fitment or leakage issues, just double-check to make sure the hardware holding the brackets to the radiator are tight (mine were loose)
