Well I managed to get the 2000 radio I bought installed into my 1999 Runner, after sourcing the proper 2000 amp to marry up to the radio. It works....or at least mostly works. No backlights. The LCD screen is AOK, just no little diodes working that light up all the buttons etc. At first I was hoping it was a separate circuit/fuse than the radio power, but no luck.
Anyone know if this is a common issue? Is it repairable, or am I better to just find another...I am making progress, at least I know how to change the radio now!!
Another post to follow re my ongoing engine issues, but that is another story.
