radio off when stopping

So my radio will shut of when I stop at a light checked all my connection everything is together don't know what to check

Is it a stock or aftermarket radio?

does it also turn off when you put the car in neutral while driving? Meaning is the RPM related to the issue? If so then get your alternator tested.

If not then it must also turn off at other times as well besides just a red light.

Can you provide more details. Does it turn off exactly when you stop or just from braking? Try to FLOOD the thread with the details.

Aftermarket stereo: yes/no

I agree alternator issue same happened to mine at idle radio is the first to go on the plus side alternator is an easy swap on the 3.4

Yup, new alternator or just need to check your battery cables.

after market deck checked all connections fuses ok so know I really dont know plugged back in my stock radio in and now the lights on the dash/ac do not come one when the headlights are on


after market
bought the aftermarket wires so I did not have to cut my wire harness
drive around stop at a light the radio only sometimes will flicker on and of which makes the power antenna go up and down


put stock radio in and now all my lights on the dash and ac are off with lights on

Check the fuses in the block down by your shin and check out the wiring going to it too. I had a loose fuse that caused my clock and stereo to go out sometimes.

will check all of the fuses pulled the ones I thought would make the lights turn on. Which were not burnt out and looked at the ones in the motor compartment nothin so I will check all of them

ok checked all the fuses have my stock radio in now and it does not shut off at lights but now I dont have lights on the dash or ac
but my aftermarket one gave me lights but made my antenna go up and down and my radio would flicker on and off

if you now don't have lights on your dash you should look at the fuses located in the engine bay. One of them controls those lights.

hmm you are starting to get multiple issues at once. First replace the fuse that knocked out your dash lighting then continue.

Assuming your dash is working again... is everything good to go now?

One more time ... is your aftermarket deck powered by the factory wireing harness with an adapter?

I ran separate power to mine deck and new speaker wire.

ok so I went to auto zone and checker autozone said yep its your alternator went to checker and the cable that runs to the fust box from the battery was lose fix that put aftermarket radio back in and now everything good have not tryed it driving will see thanks for all the help guys
