We live in Southeast Georgia and recently whenever my 4-Runner sets out in the sun, even with window shades, and tinted windows my radio turns itself on once I start the engine. I will intentionally turn off the radio before going to work but once I get in and start the vehicle the radio beeps and starts spitting my cd's out. The radio will be playing but the radio face is completly blank and will not respond to any buttons. I try turning it off, changing channels, etc and it still spits the cd's out while playing a local station. After awhile, 5-10 minutes, I am able to turn off the radio and once I do that it responds as normal. I'm pretty sure it's the hot weather we have that is causing the radio/cd player to act weird. But does anyone know if there's anything that the dealer can do to fix this? Thanks.

I've had the same problem lately, especially in the hot weather we had when it was 108 outside and probably 130 inside the car. It has happened 3 times to me where it spit everything out and wouldn't respond. It only happened when I first get into the truck and usually with the volume cranked up REALLY loud. Just checking in to say the same thing happened to me twice this summer when the car had been sitting in the sun. It wasn't scorching hot, but hotter than it had been. The first time it happened I could get no response no matter which button I pushed on the head unit; the second time I held a button down, can't remember which one, and I was able to regain control of the HU. Don't know what the fix would be and hard to take it in to the dealer when the problem can't be recreated, so I guess it is a quirk I will have to live with.
