Every time we start getting into hot weather and my car sits outside during work, when I come back and turn it on, the thing starts spitting out CD's. Anyone else encountered this?

This seems to be a problem with the 6 CD version of the factory radio as I have noticed other complaints by various members. As yet no one has posted a fix for this.

I don't know if this is a fix or not but when this happened to me, the next morning i ejected all 6 cd's and put in an audio cd cleaner. No more problems.

Thanks, Mike. I'm going to try that.

problem

Had the same thing happened in my 07 4R sports...It happened randomly during last summer. In addition my radio display was all scrembled... I took it in to the dealership and they swapped the radio. You may have to take it in, so they can swap the cd player.

Yeah, my display goes blank when it happens. I wanted to try the CD cleaner route so I went to Best Buy. Have you tried to buy JUST a CD player recently? No such thing. Now you have to buy a DVD player that will also deign to play CD's. Similarly, there are no "CD cleaners". You buy a CD, DVD, Game cleaner. It says put it in and the follow the audio directions that will play. They DON'T! All I get is an "ERROR" message. Took it back today and got refund. I have a CD cleaner around here somehwere but it hasn't turned up yet which is why I bought the new one.

Mine 2008 just spit out the CDs the other day. The display and volume control (on the unit) have acted up a few times. I will be having mine replaced by the dealer when I have time.

My brother in law had his replaced in his 2007 as well.

ANOTHER ONE HERE :)

Mine is doing it too and also my display shuts off but radio still works . Taking it in friday since it's still covered under Xtended warranty. I'll keep you up to speed.

I would like to replace it with the latest Scion version , but don't know what is the best (OR LATEST VERSION) one thats plug and play.

My '08 T4R began doin this as soon as it got hot this year, too. Sometimes randomly while driving down the road (thought there was a short in the steering wheel controls or something), sometimes when I start after a hot soak. With as many people as it seems to be happening to you'd think Toyota would recall the radios (JBL Synthesis, 6 disc CD changer) since it's very distracting when you're cruising down the road!

I took it to the dealer and they said , ok no problem , extended warranty will cover it and ordered me one up. Just waiting now .

Also something I learned is my radio is a "DJ" code radio with wma/mp3 , 6 disk , sat selection. It is made by Pioneer.

They are going to replace the 3 bulbs in the on board comp too since they flicker.

Mine did this twice last week. After starting the truck, discs start ejecting. I will be bringing mine it to delaership to get fixed.

I installed an '06 jbl 6 disc in my '05. I noticed that while night driving, the lights on the lower half of the HU would not work.

here is my question
http://www.toyota-4runner.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=52169

I just took it apart (pretty easy but takes some time, two screws and the clips on the face and then 10 screws to remove the board). I cleaned all of the contacts and cleaned the wire going from board 1 t board 2. When I put everything back together and plugged it in, all of the cds spit out and the interface would not work at all. I took it back apart and put it back together again, and this time it worked. i still do not know if the lower lights work since it's daylight, but it is a very frustrating issue. for those who have warranty left, def. get it replaced...otherwise, take it apart, clean it and put it back together.
