Alrighty folks, it looks like I am able to make my own threads finally. I will get into more of my build and things like that soon enough, but, I couldn't sleep last night and had an idea. Is it a good idea? Well that's what I need you all to help me figure out.
I am new to the T4R scene, having just bought mine in late august, but I am no stranger to mounting gear in a HMMWV or plumbers van. As I am finally ready to stop simply tossing my gear haphazardly in the cargo bay, I am looking to storage options. This is when I came across 2 companies with Modular Storage Panel ideas that seem highly reviewed by T4R.org users so far. These being Rago and Bulletproof Fabrications. Now when reading this, consider, when adding this much gear to the cargo area of the vehicle, you will limit your view through the rear windows of the vehicle, this is a trade off I personally would gladly accept. Please practice caution when backing a vehicle with sight lines!
I see pros and cons to each system, I like that Rago offers the shelf, but, I like that BPF offers a pet barrier/ cargo divider. I think that either of these companies could make a simple addition to their catalog for 2020 to make these systems complete.
Bullet Proof Fab: Add a shelf! Period. The system looks great when mounted with the pet barrier, but with an added shelf option?! I would take in consideration adding a maybe 4-5" tall back plate for those who are not using the barrier or would like to create a sort of basket when mounted to the barrier. Maybe one with spring locking pins holding a flip down panel closed, for those who want to create a sort of box.
Rago: I've seen a picture of someone using the Rago shelf as a cargo divider, while this works, it does not look as clean as the BPF divider. So, do the opposite, create a dedicated barrier that the shelf can be attached to. If done right the back plate on existing shelf units could be used, as I had suggested above, to create a sort of basket shelf. I would keep the existing backing plate available, but, also add an option like stated above, a one piece side to side panel w/ locking pins held in by spring tension and a hinged base plate.
