Quick question, how loud are your Trailfinders?
I hate my Falken Wildpeaks. Grooved highways make a lovely droning noise that is almost deafening in the cabin.

You tossed Michelin’s for a generic tire? I think you just needed an alignment. No way of determining the issue for sure if you did both at the same time.

128keaton - They are not loud at all, very quiet actually. They are also rated to be a high mileage tire which is pretty cool. Best passenger all terrain tires I have ever bought.
T4R2014 - Those Michelin's were coming up on 10 years old (were on the car when I bought them). After installing my lift, LBJ's and tires I got an alignment. Now everything is running perfectly smooth. They are very highly reviewed tires. Tread grade is 500, traction has an A rating, temperature grade is a B and a 45,000 mile warranty for $85 a piece at discount tire. I would recommend these to anyone.

Sorry, I'm the type who gets confused easily so I'm not sure what tires comments refer to.
I always have this problem reading tire threads. I can't follow the back and forth conversation and keep track of what tire they are talking about unless it's stated in each comment.
I have Michelin LTX's which I really like for highway driving and light off road. I would get another set of those. What are the Trailfinders?

Sorry, I was responding to the OP. I have the Michelin LTX M/S2's as shown in my sig. Too bad they were discontinued in that size.
Here is a picture of tires. They are probably 5 years old but have a ton of tread left. They still have a good bit of oil left in them, no dry rot or cracking. Now the alignment is possibly off, I have never had an alignment done since I've had it for the past year. There is not really any pulling/drifting in any direction on dry roads when I let my hands off. I will add that I have new sway bar bushings since redoing shocks and struts.

What's the date of production on those? Google how to find the 4 digit code. Those are probably 8+ years old.
They look like the old generation of the M/S.. maybe two generations ago. Current generation is called the Defender LTX MS, previous gen were the LTX MS/2.

No problem, I can see how that was confusing. Those specifications that I mentioned in the comment you were responding to were referring to Discount Tire's brand of tire called "Trailfinder". They are a passenger rated highway tire that has all terrain grip. Recommended for highway/mild off-roading.
MSRP - I am not exactly sure the manufacturing date as these are long gone but I remember at the beginning of the year that those Michelin's were manufactured around '08 I believe. They are a great passenger tire if you want to spend the cash on them, I just wanted something with some more tread that were a bit cheaper.

I have some LTX's that are nearing their end. I'd like a new set, maybe the AT2's. That will be well over a thousand bucks up here. On Craigslist I see these for $350 including rims with 55% left. I know it's nice to have deep treads but is it worth the extra money over deals like this?

Looks like the OP tossed 10yr old tires for something new. I've had the Michelin tires on a different vehicle. Worked great. 10yrs is beyond the typical recommended lifespan.

Fair enough. You do get what you pay for though.
Great price if:
3 things:
1. production code, ad says 3 years old since he bought em, but did they buy new? Check for the 4 digit DOT code. 3-5 years old, borderline okay. Old like 7+ years old, pass.
2. Tread depth - get it measured. If less than 6/32", it's a tossup for me. Short commute to work? Sure. Loaded down with the family for 2+ hour trips? PASS. HARD PASS.
3. You live in BC, you get a lot of rain. 55% USABLE tread, I would equate to 7/32".. realistically, wet braking performance (and age) is greatly reduced once you are below 4-5/32" in depth. One rear end because of insuficient braking will more than justify a new set at $1000+.
