Rain rain rain!

Today I drove home from work in rain that is just about as severe as it ever gets here in Southern California. I travel 50 miles each way going up into the hills of South Orange County and passing through a very rural dairy area on my way to the IE, where I had plenty of opportunities to test out the safety features of my 4Runner in regards to tire slippage. What is that clicking sound my 4Runner makes when it starts to spin out? Also, what is Auto LSD and how am I supposed to use it?

There should be an audible alarm (beeping) and a lighted indicator on your dash if the VSC (Vehicle Stability Control) kicks in.

On a similar note, I drove alot yesterday and it was the first test of my new BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO tires.

They did GREAT! I've read alot about them hydro-plaining but they stuck to the road great.

I've always run BFG AT's ( except for now) since I tried Revo's and I never had any problem's with Hydro-plaining. My revo's are nice but I think the BFG is the best I've ever had. The Revo's are excellent and ride better and a little quietier and overall on-road handling is slightly better . The only time I noticed slickness in rain w/BFG is when they were on my pick up and was giving her hell from a stop in the rain, but the ass end is so light it happened with all tire's.

OK. Well I didn't hear any beeping, I just kept hearing this clicking noise but I did see that dash indicator that looked like a car spinning out of control. I'll read up on Auto LSD. Thanks for the link. I was just really impressed on how the computer kept recovering my 4Runner even when I was trying to spin it out. Nothing maniacal, just quick starts and fast cornering. Whatever the computer was doing to my pedals felt kind of weird at first, but I got used to it. Congratulations on your new tires snap315, and your satisfaction with them. I've already made a deal with a tire friend of mine on a set of those Revo's. I don't think I want to upgrade from the 65's to the 70's, but I'm pretty anxious to get a new set on my 4Runner except after 25K miles, I still have plenty of tread on the original tires so I think they'll probably get me through the summer.
